Well, not really old, but I didn't know how else to word it! John and Lucy Scherwin, who escaped to Florida last year, will be back in town in a couple of weeks to pay us a visit. We'll be having dinner with them:
When: Sunday, May 20, at 6:30 PM
Where: Pappasitos, Richmond at Kirby
This is the same restaurant where many of us gathered over the years before comedy theater performances. Yes, I know it's an autocross day, but I picked a restaurant that is fairly centrally located so everyone can have a chance to go home for a break first.
John has sold Topper , but he's still in the BMW fold, with a new X-3. He tells me he's built a few new MINIs on the website, so here's our chance to lobby for special options.
Everyone's invited–can I get a head count so I can make reservations?

Zippeee!'s an '07 R56 MCS, delivered in February, 2007–one of the first in the country! We now have over 89,000 miles together. Yikes! That's a lot for someone who works out of her home–must be a bunch of pure motoring.

Well I am old–but I'll be there.
Ellen and I wouldn't miss it.

Forgot to mention–John said our dinner made his trip. I think he's really missing his HMMS pals…and we're certainly missing him!

Just got back to my PC
Hey, that was fun!
Really great to see old (and young) friends again… and meet Sheldon, too! I just wish we could do that in a quieter setting so I could hear better, and maybe do the equivalent of table hopping to get a chance to visit with everyone. Thanks to everyone for coming!
I do miss Houston so much. There were so many things to keep me occupied and happy… even contracting a couple days a week.
Now that we have a grandchild due in TX this fall, I'm seriously looking at how to have a home base there, too, without imposing too much.
Happy motoring to all!
John (and Lucy, too)
Deb, the book is "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein, a NYTimes best seller. It is a wonderful novel – "a heart wrenching, but deeply funny and ultimately uplifting story of family love, loyalty and hope, a captivating look at the wonders and absurdities of human life as only a dog could tell it." His name is Enzo and he knows all the things we are told at Car Control School, Street Survival, the Drivers Edge, etc., and he reminded me so much of my granddog who was at a similar stage in his life and passed on just last Monday. I miss him.
