HMMS gets involved in the community!
HMMS is continuing what is becoming an annual event: hosting a Valentine’s Day meal at Ronald McDonald House in Houston. Wouldn’t you like to help warm the hearts of these kids with a tasty breakfast? This year we are planning a pancake breakfast for about 20 kids and their families, for a total of about 65 people.
The date is Sunday, February 14th. We will meet at RMH at 9:00 AM, start cooking around 9:30 AM, and serve starting at 10:00 AM.
We need volunteers to help prep the food and flip pancakes, to serve and keep the buffet line stocked, and clearing tables. Per RMH rules, we can have a maximum of 15 volunteers, all 16 years of age or older. Also, for the kids’ protection, no one is allowed in the House if they have been sick or exposed to any infectious disease within two weeks prior to the event.
As has been the tradition, we also would like to round up paper towels and aluminum pull tabs to donate to RMH. These items are on their wish list, and are greatly welcomed. HMMS will also be giving away HMMS caps and t-shirts to the kids.
Not only do we need volunteers, but we also need members to donate the following items for the breakfast:
Pancake mix
Syrup (including sugar-free)
Butter
Chocolate chips
Sprinkles
Whipped cream
Fruit to put on pancakes (strawberries, blueberries, bananas)
Yogurt (single serving sizes)
Juice
PAM cooking spray
Electric griddles
Warming trays
Paper plates & cups
Napkins
Plastic utensils
Flavored coffee creamer
(Coffee & cereal to be provided by RMH)

Hey everybody, this event starts at 9:00 AM, not 5:00AM, so don’t be scared off! Please go to The Club House forum, choose something to bring, and then sign up for this wonderful, rewarding experience! I’ve the plates, bowls and cups in Valentines Day red, together with plastic eating utensils, as I promised. I will be at RMH on Sunday morning at the appointed time, with these, 3 warming trays, pull tabs and paper towels! If we have an outpouring of volunteers, I will be happy to give my position to a newer member. Otherwise I am rarin to go make pancakes!
For now, I’m off to Florida! See y’all on Valentines Day!

Geez… I’ve had real trouble lately posting the dates/time of events. Sorry!

Juha- Unfortunately, RMH rules are we can’t have more than 15 volunteers in the house, and we already have 15 volunteers to work the breakfast. I called the event coordinator at RMH to confirm this. If you like, you can “work” outdoors and show off your MINI to the kids.

I think we have every we need. The only items that weren’t spoken for are blueberries and strawberries, but I think we’ll have plenty of of other stuff to put on pancakes.
