Since September 2009, Houston MINI Motoring Society has been the Guardian of a 1/2 mile stretch of Galveston Island State Park beach. Two times a year, the state arranges a state-wide clean up of all its beaches by volunteers. The Fall Adopt-a-Beach clean up is September 22th.
We’ll meet at the beach at 9:30 am, clean for a couple of hours, and then head out for lunch somewhere in Galveston.
The Texas General Land Office provides trash bags and latex gloves. If you like, bring your own pair of work gloves. Don’t worry, there will be no heavy trash to pick up. HMMS will bring drinks.
Galveston Island State Park is on FM 3005 (Seawall Blvd) about 9 miles west of 61st Street on Galveston Island.
I’m not planning a caravn to the beach this time since we have to be at the beach so early, and I have to go sign in our club and get supplies at the check in point about an hour earlier.
