Our next meeting will on Saturday, May 5th, at the Cafe Express in Sugar Land Town Center. This is at the intersection of Hwy 6 and Hwy 59 (SW Freeway).

As usual, arrive at 10:00 am to meet and greet your fellow MINIacs, and we’ll go inside at 10:30 am for the meeting. Cafe Express has breakfast and lunch item available at this time.

Hopefully the traffic will be light Saturday morning, and we can park in front of the cafe along the main drive through Town Center. If not, there is a free parking garage next to the restaurant.

Town Center is the new city center of Sugar Land, with a new city hall, shops, and restaurants. A neat place to visit.

April 2012 Galveston Island State Park Beach Guardian Day

April 28, 2012
9:00 AMto2:00 PM

The Spring Adopt-a-Beach clean up day is April 28th. Houston MINI Motoring Society is the Guardian of a 1/2 mile stretch of Galveston Island State Park beach. We’ll meet at the beach at 9:00 am, clean for a couple of hours, and then head out for lunch somewhere in Galveston. I’m looking for our members to suggest a lunch stop in Galveston.

The Texas General Land Office provides trash bags and latex gloves. If you like, bring your own pair of work gloves. Don’t worry, there will be no heavy trash to pick up. HMMS will bring drinks.

Galveston Island State Park is on FM 3005 (Seawall Blvd) about 9 miles west of 61st Street on Galveston Island.

Let us know if you are coming by commenting on this post.

Interesting Fact: During the 2011 Spring clean-up day, 2,291 volunteers picked up 27.5 tons of trash along 32 miles of Galveston area beaches. Wow!
